Job summary

OSF HealthCare is seeking a Phlebotomist to obtain blood and other specimens from inpatients, outpatients, ED and clinic patients for laboratory testing according to licensed orders. You will verify patient ID, prepare skin sites, perform venipuncture and skin punctures, label specimens, and transport them to the laboratory.

This hourly role includes weekend premium pay (20% for hours between Friday 7:00 p.m. and Monday 7:30 a.m.) and a 3rd shift differential of $2.25 per hour.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft software.
• Experience with EMR systems (Epic) preferred.
• Phlebotomy program completion or 3 months of phlebotomy experience.

Responsibilities

• Obtain blood and other specimens from inpatients, outpatients, ED patients, and clinic patients for laboratory testing.
• Verify patient identification and prepare skin sites for venipuncture or skin punctures.
• Label specimens and transport to the laboratory for analysis.
• Perform clerical/computer duties related to the laboratory.
