Expected pay for this position is $17.66 - $19.63/hour. Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills and internal equity. This is an Hourly position.

Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Phlebotomist I obtains blood and other specimens according to established policies and procedures from any location where patients may be present for laboratory testing. In doing so, obtains needed supplies, verifies patient identification, prepares skin sites, and performs venipuncture and skin punctures according to established aseptic techniques. Labels specimens and transports same to laboratory for analysis. This position works independently and as a part of a team, performs clerical and/or computer duties associated with the laboratory, and provides timely specimen collection and routing of laboratory specimens. Maintains professional relationships with patients, staff, and physicians. Duties may vary by assigned area and/or shift.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Solid computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft software. Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to be detail oriented.

License/Certifications:

CPR Certification through the American Heart Association Phlebotomy Technician Certification (PBT)

Experience:

6 months in a team orientated environment or customer service role Completion of formal structured phlebotomy program OR 3 months’ full-time phlebotomy experience or equivalent. Experience working with an electronic medical record system, such as Epic Maintain composure while working under pressure; ability to perform job duties with frequent interruptions and/or distractions Other requirements/information: Positive, professional attitude and demeanor
