Job summary

Key People is seeking a Phlebotomist to join the team in Colonial Heights, VA. The role requires hands-on blood collection, specimen labeling, and adherence to strict lab procedures. Expect patient interaction, accurate data entry, and routine QA tasks within a 7:45am–4:30pm, Monday–Friday schedule.

Experience with venipuncture and compliant with OSHA/DEP regulations is essential. The assignment lasts about 3 months with potential for permanent placement and benefits are available.

Qualifications

• Valid phlebotomy certification as required in some states.
• Minimum 6 months' venipuncture experience in fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; High School Diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

• Perform blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging, and recording maintenance data.
• Collect and store specimens according to procedures; explain venipuncture process to patients.
• Demonstrate technique using straight and butterfly needles.
• Match requisitions to tubes; label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required.
• Check test requisitions against scripts for accuracy; package specimens for transport.
• Store specimens at required temperatures and comply with OSHA/DEP regulations.
• Attend annual department trainings; answer inquiries via phone.
