Job summary

The University of Kansas Health System is seeking a Phlebotomist for the Olathe Hospital who will perform blood draws, ensure patient identification, and prepare specimens for transport in a fast-paced hospital setting.

You will work with ambulatory and inpatient teams, follow AIDET customer service guidelines, input data into HIS/LIS, and participate in quality assurance, while rotating weekends and early morning shifts.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required or equivalent.
• Completion of an approved phlebotomy training program or equivalent experience.
• ASCP PBT certification preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Performs blood draws by venipuncture following standard protocol.
• Ensures proper patient identification and labeling of specimens.
• Labels, centrifuges, and prepares specimens for testing as required.
• Enters orders in the Hospital Information System (HIS) and Laboratory Information System (LIS).
• Maintains specimen integrity and follows pre-analytical variable guidelines.
• Provides customer service and assistance to nursing staff as needed.
