Job summary

The University of Kansas Health System in Kansas City is seeking a Phlebotomist for the Olathe Cancer Center to perform blood collection and specimen processing in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires accurate order interpretation, proper labeling, and adherence to regulatory standards across ambulatory and inpatient settings. M-F 0800-1630, with opportunities to cover alternate locations as needed.

Qualifications

• Completion of a phlebotomy training program or 1+ years in specimen collection.
• High School graduate.
• ASCP Phlebotomy Technician certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs blood draws by venipuncture according to standard protocol, ensuring patient safety and quality specimen collection.
• Performs specimen collection using appropriate techniques and adhering to requirements.
• Provides patients and/or care providers with instructions and necessary materials for specimen collection.
• Performs data entry in applicable information systems in compliance with departmental and organizational policies.
• Releases orders in ambulatory health system and processes specimens through LIS/HIS as required.
• May support nursing staff and assist with troubleshooting and patient care as needed.
