Job summary

The University of Kansas Health System in Olathe, KS is seeking a Phlebotomist for PRN evening/night shifts. Qualifications

High School Graduate and phlebotomy training/experience according to the listed options.
Fluent English and ability to understand, read, write and speak English.
Preferred certification: ASCP Phlebotomy Technician (PBT).

Responsibilities

Performs blood draws by venipuncture following standard protocol and ensures patient safety.
Collects specimens, provides instructions to patients, and ensures proper labeling.
Escorts patients as needed and responds to post-venipuncture reactions promptly.
Performs data entry in information systems in line with policies.
Ensures proper container type, centrifugation, and transport conditions.
Releases orders in ambulatory settings and handles LIS/HIS workflows.
Maintains specimen quality and troubleshooting of orders or missing specimens.
Provides coverage at alternate locations to meet staffing needs.
Mentors students and colleagues; maintains inventory of supplies.
