Qualifications

• Valid Phlebotomy certification as required by state
• Minimum 6 months' venipuncture experience in fast-paced lab or hospital
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
• High School Diploma or GED
• Minimum 2 years of experience in phlebotomy

Responsibilities

• Experience performing blood draws, labeling, centrifuging, data recording and decontamination
• Collects and stores specimens according to procedures
• Explain venipuncture process clearly and courteously to patients
• Demonstrate technique with standard straight or butterfly needles
• Understand physician orders and match requisitions to specimens
• Package specimens for transport and label accordingly
• Ensure correct lab labels and test requisitions
• Follow temperature controls and transport protocols
• Attend department trainings and comply with OSHA/DEP regulations
• Answer inquiries from staff or patients regarding results
