Qualifications

• Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state where you will be employed as required in some states.
• Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast paced lab or hospital setting.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
• High School Diploma or GED

Responsibilities

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information.
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures and explains the venipuncture process clearly and courteously.
• Demonstrates technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles; matches requisition forms to specimen tubes; labels and prepares specimens for transport.
• Stains and decontaminates work areas as required; ensures specimens are stored at correct temperatures and logged properly.
• Communicates results and inquiries to staff as needed and attends annual department trainings.
