Job summary

Connectly Recruiting is seeking a Phlebotomist for a contract role in Greenwich, CT. Schedule is 8am-5pm, Monday-Friday with rotating Saturdays; duration about 3 months with potential for permanent hire.

The ideal candidate has phlebotomy certification, 12+ months venipuncture experience, and proficiency with office software. Responsibilities include blood draws, specimen handling, and ensuring regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment
• At least 12 months of venipuncture experience in a fast-paced lab or hospital
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
• High school diploma or GED

Responsibilities

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, etc.
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.
• Clearly explains the venipuncture process to patients in a courteous manner.
• Demonstrate technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
• Understand and follow physicians' orders.
• Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
• Check test requisitions or computer labels for accuracy.
• Package specimens for transport.
• Store specimens at required temperatures and maintain specimen integrity.
• Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
• Attend annual department trainings.
• Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.
