Job summary

Baltimore-based phlebotomy contract position for 3 months with potential for permanent placement. Requires 2-4 years of diagnostic phlebotomy experience across pediatric to geriatric patients. Schedule is Monday through Friday 8:30am–5:00pm, plus one Saturday per month 8:00am–2:30pm.

Responsibilities include blood draws, specimen labeling, centrifuging, data maintenance, and patient communication. Compliance with OSHA/DEP regulations and annual trainings is expected.

Qualifications

• Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state where you will be employed as required in some states.
• Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast paced lab or hospital setting.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• High School Diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information.
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.
• Explain the venipuncture process clearly and courteously.
• Demonstrate technique using straight or butterfly needles.
• Ensure loads match physician orders and properly label/test requisitions.
• Package specimens for transport and store according to required temperatures.
• Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations and attend annual trainings.
• Answer inquiries by reading laboratory results to the caller.
