Job summary

Professional Recruiting Consultants, Inc. is seeking a Phlebotomist for a contract role in Farmville, VA. Schedule is Monday to Friday, 8:00am–4:30pm, with an initial duration of 3 months and potential for permanent placement.

The ideal candidate has at least 2 years of experience, phlebotomy certification, and familiarity with hard sticks/ pediatrics/straight-stick needles. Benefits are available and the work requires accurate specimen handling.

Qualifications

• Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state where you will be employed as required in some states.
• Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast paced lab or hospital setting.
• High School Diploma or GED; Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite

Responsibilities

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information.
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures and explains venipuncture process to patients.
• Demonstrates technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles; follows physician orders and matches requisition forms.
• Package specimens for transport and ensure proper labeling, temperature control and chain-of-custody per protocol.
