Job summary

Ashton North LLC is seeking a contract Phlebotomist in Washington, DC. The role requires venipuncture experience, blood draw expertise, and proper specimen handling. Schedule is Mon–Fri, 8am–5pm, with an initial 3-month duration and potential for permanent hire.

The candidate should be comfortable with hard draws and geriatric patients, and have valid state Phlebotomy certification. Benefits are available and the position involves lab duties and clerical tasks as described.

Qualifications

• Valid Phlebotomy certification as required by state.
• Minimum 5 years venipuncture experience in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
• High School Diploma or GED; proficient with Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, etc.
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.
• Properly explains in a clear but courteous manner the process of the venipuncture (blood drawing) and/or other specimen collection as required.
• Demonstrate technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
• Fully understand all of the physicians' orders.
• Matches laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes; label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
• Package specimens for transport; store sample according to required temperatures and transport protocols.
