Job summary

Ashton North LLC in Washington, DC seeks a Phlebotomist for a contract role with potential for permanent placement. Schedule is 7am-4pm, Mon-Fri, with Saturday half-day, serving geriatric patients and performing hard draws as needed.

Responsibilities include blood draws, specimen labeling, centrifugation, data recording, and ensuring test requisitions match. Requires state phlebotomy certification and 5+ years of venipuncture experience in busy labs.

Qualifications

• Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state where you will be employed.
• Minimum 5 years venipuncture experience in a fast-paced lab or hospital.
• Minimum 1 year of related experience.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, etc.
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.
• Properly explains in a clear but courteous manner the venipuncture process and other specimen collections as required.
• Demonstrate technique using straight and butterfly needles.
• Fully understand all physicians' orders and match requisition forms to specimen tubes.
• Check all test requisitions or computer label against script to ensure 100% accuracy.
• Package specimens for transport and store samples according to required temperatures.
• Attend annual department trainings and answer phone calls, read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.
