Job summary

HCA Florida Blake Hospital is seeking a Lab Assistant / Phlebotomist to perform specimen collection, processing, and registration under supervision. The role requires proficiency in venipuncture, heel sticks for infants, and accurate documentation while adhering to procedures and regulatory requirements.

You will support service quality, patient satisfaction, and regulatory compliance across the department.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2+ years experience in registration, clerical duties and specimen processing
• Experience with venipuncture across age groups preferred
• Follows safety policies and protects patient information

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates understanding of specimen collection and testing requirements
• Performs venipunctures and finger sticks on pediatric to geriatric patients
• Prepares specimens for courier pickup and routes to referral laboratories as needed
• Collects and documents specimen data accurately
• Uses LIS and other systems for patient registration and order entry
• Ensures proper labeling and chain-of-custody for specimens
• Maintains clean work area and adheres to safety procedures
• Supports department goals for service quality and regulatory compliance
