Job summary

Southeast Medical Group is seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to join our laboratory team. You will collect blood samples safely and compassionately, process specimens accurately, and maintain regulatory compliance in a fast-paced setting.

Responsibilities include venipuncture, patient education, data entry into EHR, and collaboration with healthcare staff. A phlebotomy certification within 6 months of hire is required, plus 1 year of experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an accredited phlebotomy training program preferred.
• Certification as a Phlebotomy Technician (e.g., CPT) required within 6 months of hire.
• Minimum of 1 year of phlebotomy experience in clinical or hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture and capillary collections for patients of all ages following protocols.
• Verify identity, explain procedures, and obtain informed consent before collections.
• Label, process, and transport specimens with proper chain-of-custody documentation.
• Maintain clean work area and proper disposal of biohazardous waste and sharps.
• Assist with inventory of phlebotomy supplies and equipment.
• Enter patient data and test requests into EHR with accuracy.
• Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and lab staff to ensure patient care.
• Participate in quality assurance activities, proficiency testing, and calibration.
• Adhere to Southeast Medical Group policies including HIPAA and safety.
