Job summary

Responsibilities include confirming orders, preparing specimens, and ensuring timely distribution to testing areas, with interaction across patients, physicians, nurses, and lab staff.

Qualifications

• Education requirement: High School diploma or GED.
• Experience: Three years of clinical laboratory experience preferred.
• Working knowledge: lab tests, terminology and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Observe specimens to determine volume, condition and documentation.
• Verify and clarify orders with physician/nurse within one hour.
• Prepare specimens for testing per protocol.
• Distribute specimens to appropriate testing areas promptly.
• Document paperwork per laboratory protocol.
• Scan orders into the EMR as needed.
