Job summary

NRHS in Oklahoma is seeking a detail-oriented phlebotomy professional to join our Laboratory Outreach Service Centers. You will perform admission interviews, collect blood and urine specimens, ensure Medicare and insurance requirements are met, and respond to patient inquiries.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, some knowledge of medical terminology, and 3 months of customer service or phlebotomy experience. BLS is required during orientation and ongoing.

Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent GED.
• Requires some knowledge of medical terminology.
• Skill in use of computers including word processing.

Responsibilities

• Perform admission interview process at Outreach Service Centers or use information provided by outreach clients at time of specimen collection or pickup.
• Ensure that all Medicare, insurance and managed care requirements are met prior to the registration process.
• Respond to inquiries regarding patients.
• Obtain blood specimens (on or off site) following established procedures, time frames, and safety requirements.
• Obtain specimens (on or off site) requiring special collection procedures following established procedures, time frames, and safety requirements.
• Perform diagnostic electrocardiogram on outpatients and Therapeutic INR QC and testing procedures.
• Collect urine samples and processing.
• Specimen collections other than blood or urine.
• Assist in the laboratory area.
• Act as a resource for Laboratory information.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of insurance regulations and Medicare requirements.
• Order and maintain supplies at PAR level.
• Various Laboratory Requirements.
• Proper Phone Etiquette.
