Job summary

• Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
• Preferred certification as a phlebotomy technician.
• Experience drawing blood or completed phlebotomy training.
• Experience in a clinical laboratory environment.

Responsibilities

• Performs proper specimen collection (blood and non-blood), including patient prep, labeling, handling, preservation or fixation, processing, transportation and storage; adheres to lab standards.
• Collects, verifies, and processes patient registration data and test orders into hospital LIS/LIS, including ABN compliance.
• Processes specimens according to established guidelines.
• Maintains safe and clean working environment and adheres to infection-control policies.
• Performs waived tests and assists in other testing platforms with oversight.
• Assists in quality control and performance improvement activities.
