Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Certified as a phlebotomy technician is preferred.
• Previous experience drawing blood or phlebotomy training in an approved program is preferred.
• Experience in a clinical laboratory environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs all specimen collection by phlebotomy from the correct individual at in-house or off-site locations.
• Instructs patients in specimen collection as necessary.
• Enter pathology specimens into information systems and prepare/stain cytology specimens as needed.
• Maintain safe, clean work environment following infection-control and policy protocols.
• Assist in waived tests and other testing platforms under technical oversight.
• Contribute to quality control and performance improvement activities.
