Job summary

Lakeview Hospital in Bountiful, UT seeks a Phlebotomist to join our Laboratory team. You will collect blood specimens, prepare and label samples, and transport them to the appropriate laboratory area while communicating test requests and results to staff and physicians.

The role requires phlebotomy certification or Medical Assistant certification, a minimum of 6 months phlebotomy experience, and strong attention to detail. A valid driver’s license and BLS/CPR within 30 days of hire are required.

Qualifications

• Previous health care experience required; laboratory experience and knowledge of aseptic methods and basic medical terminology preferred.
• Good communication skills.
• Analytical skills to select best site for obtaining blood based on physicians' orders.
• Phlebotomy or Medical Assistant certification.
• Minimum 6 months of phlebotomy experience or completion of a phlebotomy training program.
• Excellent communication/people skills and problem solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Collect blood samples and urine from patients for laboratory testing including blood cultures.
• Register specimens and order tests in LIS; prepare/label samples for testing.
• Transport specimens to the appropriate laboratory area.
• Communicate test requests and results to staff, departments, and physicians.
• Assist with in-services or training as assigned; perform administrative duties as needed.
