Job summary

St. Mark's Hospital in Salt Lake City seeks a Phlebotomist to perform venipuncture, capillary sticks, urine drug screens and related specimen collections under supervision, ensuring safe transport and accurate reporting.

Preferred candidates hold phlebotomy training or MA certification, BLS within 7 days of hire, and at least 6 months of phlebotomy experience. Training is provided and benefits are included.

Qualifications

• Phlebotomy training program certificate or MA preferred.
• American Red Cross or American Heart Association BLS/BCLS and Certification within 7 days of hire.
• Completion of phlebotomy training program preferred.
• Minimum 6 months phlebotomy experience or completion of phlebotomy on the job training.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates knowledge of correctly ordering lab tests and drawing correct tubes for testing.
• Performs high quality venipuncture, capillary sticks, and urine collections.
• Collects and delivers specimens to the appropriate section of the laboratory in a timely manner.
• Follows appropriate procedure for Stat, Urgent, and Routine tests.
• Documents patient care information in Meditech.
• Maintains organized, well-stocked and clean work area.
• Performs special phlebotomy procedures such as glucose tolerance tests, blood cultures, skin tests, urine drug screens.
