Job summary

Geisinger Medical Laboratories is seeking a phlebotomist to join our clinical team. You will perform venipunctures and skin punctures to obtain blood specimens, ensure proper labeling and accessioning, and collaborate with clinicians to support excellent patient care.

Extra responsibilities include mentoring new staff and maintaining competency through ongoing evaluation and training as part of Geisinger’s commitment to high-quality laboratory services.

Qualifications

• Phlebotomy experience or training required or preferred depending on level.
• ASCP certification indicating competency is valued.
• Ability to perform venipuncture and skin puncture according to CLSI guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Perform venipunctures and skin punctures to obtain blood specimens.
• Identify and label specimens accurately and ensure proper accessioning and processing.
• Collaborate with clinical staff to promote safe patient care and outcomes.
• Mentor students and new employees; assist with training as needed.
• Maintain competency through annual LMS assessments and direct observation.
