Location: Charlotte, NC | Schedule: Full-time, contract, on-site, 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM M-F | Compensation: Benefits are available

Overview

A healthcare services provider is seeking a Phlebotomist to join its laboratory team on a contract basis with potential for permanent placement. This role is essential to ensuring accurate specimen collection and processing, supporting patient care through precise blood draws and adherence to strict laboratory protocols.

What you'll do
  • Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, and record maintenance data and decontamination activities
  • Collect and store specimens according to established procedures
  • Clearly and courteously explain the venipuncture process and other specimen collection methods (e.g., urine or fecal) to patients
  • Demonstrate technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles
  • Fully understand and follow physicians' orders
  • Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes
  • Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order
  • Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy
  • Package specimens for transport
  • Store specimen samples at required temperatures, place samples in appropriate collection containers/tubes, and accurately label them following protocol-specific procedures to maintain specimen integrity during transport
  • Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations
  • Attend annual department trainings
  • Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to respond to inquiries
Required qualifications
