Job summary

CSL is seeking an Apheresis Technician to prepare donors, donor areas, and equipment for pheresis procedures, monitor the process, and respond to alarms. The role requires precise data recording using a PDA and maintaining a safe, confidential environment.

The candidate will operate the autopheresis machine, link supplies to donors, and collaborate with staff to ensure smooth donor flow while complying with SOPs and safety policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of three (3) months’ work experience, preferably in a medical or health provider environment or equivalent.
• Must be able to perform basic math calculations.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the donor, donor area and equipment for the pheresis process.
• Prepare the autopheresis machine for the pheresis process.
• Monitor the donor and the pheresis process, respond to alarms or signals during the process.
• Disconnect the donor when the process is complete.
• Maintain alertness to any donor reaction during or after the pheresis process and notify appropriate staff.
• Use PDA to record incidents, machine alerts, alarms, volume variances and donor adverse events.
• Link equipment and supplies used in the pheresis process to the appropriate donor using PDA.
• Alert Group Leader or Supervisor of donor flow issues.
• Ensure accurate recording of donor data in the electronic donor information management system per SOPs.
• Understand policies and procedures around hyper immune programs as applicable.
• Maintain clean, efficient work environment and ensure supplies and forms are available; follow HSE and OSHA policies and promote safety.
• Maintain confidentiality of all personnel, donor and center information.
• May be cross-trained in other areas as needed.
• Bilingual skills may be required at organization discretion.
