Pheresis Donor Care Technician

Job summary

CSL in Champaign, IL seeks a donor pheresis support role to prepare the donor, donor area and equipment for the pheresis process and to prep the autopheresis machine. You will monitor the donor and process, respond to alarms, disconnect the donor when complete, and maintain safety and donor data records in the SOPs.

You may be cross-trained, bilingual skills may be required, and you will follow HSE and OSHA policies while ensuring supplies and confidentiality of donor information.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of three (3) months’ work experience, preferably in medical or health provider environment or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must be able to perform basic math calculations.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for preparing the donor, donor area and equipment for the pheresis process.
• Prepares the autopheresis machine for the pheresis process.
• Monitors the donor and the pheresis process, responds to alarms or signals that may occur during the process.
• Disconnects the donor when the process is complete.
• Maintains alertness to any reaction donor may have during or after the pheresis process and notifies appropriate staff.
• Uses PDA to record incidents during the pheresis process (machine alerts, alarms, volume variances, donor events).
• Links equipment and supplies used to the appropriate donor in the PDA.
• Alerts Group Leader or Supervisor of donor flow issues.
• Ensures accurate recording of donor data in the electronic donor information management system (SOPs).
• Understands policies for hyper immune programs at the center if applicable.
• Maintains a clean, efficient work environment; ensures operating supplies and forms are available; follows HSE and OSHA policies; promotes safety.
• Maintains confidentiality of all personnel, donor and center information.
• May be cross-trained in other areas; bilingual skills may be required at organization discretion.
• Performs job-related duties as assigned.
