Job summary

Alfa Laval is seeking a hands-on technician in Greer, SC to receive, inspect, disassemble and reassemble equipment, following quality standards and safety guidelines. You will handle gaskets, perform dye penetrant inspections and prepare plates for assembly, with on-site responsibilities and occasional shipping tasks.

The role emphasizes attention to detail, ability to read drawings, operate basic measuring tools, and collaborate with a team in a fast-paced workshop environment.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or Equivalent.
• Experience in a manual shop environment, preferred but not necessary
• Experience operating fork lift trucks, hand pallet jacks and overhead cranes, preferred
• Able to use measuring devices (tape measure, depth micrometer) as required
• Good hand eye coordination
• Flexible, Team Player
• Clocking in and out, scanning bar codes, taking photos

Responsibilities

• Receives, counts, verifies, labels and stores all parts.
• Uncrates, removes gaskets, disassembles.
• For glued gaskets - processes plates through liquid nitrogen and prepares for chemical dip.
• Fills out inspection reports and reads drawings as work moves.
• Performs dye penetrant inspection and checks plates under black light for defects.
• Cleans units and paints when required.
• Installs new gaskets per specification.
• Monitors cure process and stacks plates for assembly.
• Ensures proper packing configuration or framing per drawings.
• Communicates need for replenishment and repairs to supervision.
• Maintains clean and organized work area according to 5S standards.
• Uncrates items for customer as directed and handles customer supplied parts.
• Delivers customer equipment as needed.
