Job summary

Eastman Chemical Company, based in Kingsport, TN, seeks a Ph.D.-level Analytical Scientist specializing in microscopy for the Microbiology and Materials Analysis Laboratory. This full-time onsite role involves hands-on materials testing with AFM, nano-indentation, and advanced imaging, plus method development and collaborative problem solving.

You will lead data collection, analysis, and reporting, while contributing to safety leadership and milestone-driven projects within a dynamic team.

Qualifications

PhD in a related science required or strongly preferred.
AFM experience is highly preferred for characterization.
Nano-indentation and optical profilometry experience are strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

Perform materials testing and preparation using optical, phase contrast, fluorescence, AFM, and electron microscopy.
Identify and evaluate new capabilities for growth and reliability.
Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair analytical equipment.
Ensure timely sample turnaround and data reporting.
Collaborate with scientists and project teams to provide accurate results.
Develop new test methods to meet customer needs.
Document learnings in technical reports and invention disclosures.
Act as safety leader within the team.
