Job summary

Giant Eagle is seeking a Pharmacy Technician Trainee to join a collaborative team focused on safe, accurate and efficient patient care. You will support the pharmacy in processing prescriptions, assisting customers, and maintaining inventory while upholding HIPAA and regulatory standards.

Ideal candidates have 0–6 months experience, a high school diploma or equivalent, and are eligible to register as a pharmacy technician with the state board.

Qualifications

• Experience required: 0 to 6 months.
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Eligible to obtain registration as pharmacy technician with the applicable state board of pharmacy.
• Lifting up to 25 pounds.
• Age requirement: at least 18 years of age.

Responsibilities

• Welcome patients with compassion at all pharmacy entry points.
• Process orders in person and by phone; direct patients to products and services and refer questions to the pharmacist.
• Maintain a neat, clean work environment to meet company and government requirements.
• Assist team members to ensure the department runs efficiently.
• Use the pharmacy computer to complete actions to maximize efficiency and patient care across all stages.
• Assist in executing company initiatives and programs.
• Complete required training and exams; follow policies including HIPAA and Pseudoephedrine sales.
• Finalize sales using cash register and recognize cash handling procedures.
• Transcribe data from prescriptions to generate customer labels.
• Maintain inventory by ordering, receiving, stocking, and rotating drugs and supplies.
• Answer telephone politely; ensure accurate information exchange and customer satisfaction.
• Resolve customer questions by clear communication with customers and management.
• File written prescriptions daily.
