Job summary

Giant Eagle in Pennsylvania is seeking a Pharmacy Technician Trainee to join our collaborative team. You’ll contribute to a service-focused pharmacy that builds strong relationships with patients and supports safe, accurate and efficient care.

Responsibilities include welcoming patients, processing prescriptions, assisting with inventory, and maintaining a clean work environment while complying with HIPAA and company policies.

Qualifications

• Experience required: 0 to 6 months.
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certification: Eligible to obtain registration as pharmacy technician with the applicable state board of pharmacy.
• Lifting: Up to 25 pounds.
• Age: At least 18 years of age.

Responsibilities

• Welcome patients and immediately acknowledge them with compassion and a smile at all pharmacy entry points.
• Process orders in person and by phone, directing questions to the pharmacist and ensuring accurate data handling.
• Maintain a neat and clean work environment to meet company and government requirements.
• Assist team members to ensure the department runs efficiently.
• Use the pharmacy computer to manage actions from drop-off to order receiving, including patient search and labeling.
• Assist in executing company initiatives and improve outcomes using service and business metrics.
• Complete required training programs and exams.
• Adhere to HIPAA, Pseudoephedrine policies, and all relevant laws.
• Handle cash register and finalise sales per procedures.
• Transcribe prescription data to generate customer labels.
• Maintain inventory by ordering, receiving, stocking and rotating drugs.
• Answer telephone politely and ensure accurate information exchange.
• Resolve customer questions with management and support staff.
• File written prescriptions daily.
