The Pharmacist Technician, under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist, prepares, packages, and distributes medications and pharmaceutical supplies. When appropriate, reviews physicians' orders and transcribes required information into patients' computerized drug profiles. Utilizing aseptic techniques, prepares admixture medications for large volume parenterals or piggyback containers and hazardous agents, working under the laminar flow hood. Reviews potentially incompatible products and/or dosage errors with the pharmacist before admixture. Maintains equipment and replenishes stock for automated dispensing systems. Releases drugs on approval of pharmacist. Restocks ambulance bags and emergency trays. Ensures medications are in date by performing monthly inspections of assigned areas.required information into patients' computerized drug profiles.
