Responsibilities
- Assist the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in the practice of pharmacy, in accordance with state and federal regulations. Support other Pharmacy Department duties following Company policies and procedures.
- Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information, process prescriptions, and, if PTCB certified, assist and coach other pharmacy technicians and cashiers in pharmacy operations.
- Deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience.
Customer Experience
- Engage with customers and patients, greet them, and offer assistance. Resolve issues and answer questions to ensure a positive experience.
- Share customer service best practices with team members, including interpersonal habits and Walgreens service traits.
- Develop strong relationships with valuable customers.
Operations
- Assist in pharmacy practices under supervision, ensuring compliance with policies and regulations.
- Perform duties such as entering patient and drug information, filling prescriptions, verifying accuracy, and managing workflow as assigned by the Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist, or Store Manager.
- Report prescription errors immediately and adhere to policies related to pharmacy errors and quality improvement.
- Follow policies regarding Good Faith Dispensing during prescription activities.
- Handle sales transactions, including cash handling and assisting customers in locating products.
- Manage telephone communications, process third-party claims, and support inventory management activities.
- Support clinical services, including sample collection and coordination with healthcare providers.
- Maintain good relationships with the local medical community through outreach and detailing.
- Ensure the Pharmacy Department is well-stocked, clean, and orderly.
- Follow all company policies and maintain respectful relationships with coworkers.
- Complete assigned tasks and special projects as required.
Training & Personal Development
- Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated training program and/or state certification. Certification is required for promotion to senior technician.
- Attend training sessions and acquire continuing education credits to stay updated on healthcare and pharmacy developments.
- Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
