Responsibilities

1. Assist the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in the practice of pharmacy, in accordance with state and federal regulations. Assist with other Pharmacy Department duties following company policies and procedures.
2. Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions. If PTCB certified, assist and coach other pharmacy technicians in operating pharmacy systems and help cashiers with pharmacy cash registers.
3. Model and deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience.

Customer Experience

• Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance. Resolve issues and answer questions to ensure a positive experience.
• Share customer service best practices with team members, including interpersonal habits and Walgreens service traits.
• Develop strong relationships with valuable customers.

Operations

• Assist in pharmacy practice under supervision, ensuring compliance with policies and regulations.
• Perform duties such as entering patient and drug information, filling prescriptions, verifying medicines, and checking for interactions. Support workflow scheduling.
• Report prescription errors immediately and adhere to error and quality improvement policies.
• Follow Good Faith Dispensing policies during prescription activities.
• Handle sales transactions, including cash handling and assisting customers in locating products.
• Manage telephone communications and process third-party claims efficiently.
• Support inventory management activities, including ordering, unpacking, and storing pharmaceuticals. Maintain knowledge of asset protection techniques and file claims for discrepancies.
• Assist in clinical services, such as collecting and labeling samples, and coordinate clinical activities with healthcare providers.
• Develop relationships with the local medical community through outreach and detailing.
• Ensure the pharmacy environment is stocked, clean, and orderly.
• Follow all company policies and maintain respectful coworker relationships.
• Complete assigned tasks and special projects as needed.

Training & Personal Development

• Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated training program and/or state requirements. Certification is required for promotion to senior technician.
• Attend training sessions and acquire continuing education credits to stay current with healthcare and pharmacy developments.

• Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, is required.
