- Assist the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in the practice of pharmacy. Assist with the performance of other Pharmacy Department duties in accordance with Company policies and procedures.
- Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions. If PTCB certified, assist with and coach pharmacy technicians in the operation of pharmacy systems and cash registers.
- Model and deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience.
- Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services. Resolve customer issues and answer questions to ensure a positive customer experience.
- Model and share customer service best practices with all team members to deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience.
- Develop strong relationships with most valuable customers.
- Assist in the practice of pharmacy, in accordance with state, federal, and company policy.
- Perform duties assigned by Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist, and Store Manager, including utilizing pharmacy systems to enter patient and drug information, ensuring accurate data entry, filling prescriptions, verifying medication correctness, and checking for possible interactions.
- Report prescription errors to the pharmacist and adhere to Company policies and the Quality Improvement Program.
- Adhere to Walgreen Co. policy regarding Good Faith Dispensing during all prescription dispensing activities.
- Register all related sales on the assigned cash register, collect and handle cash as required, and assist customers with OTC aisle products.
- Handle telephone calls that do not require pharmacist attention.
- Process manual claims for third‑party prescription services promptly and perform other clerical duties as assigned.
- Assist Pharmacy Department with inventory management activities.
- Assist pharmacist in administering clinical services as required.
- Assist Pharmacy Manager in establishing relationships with the local medical community and external providers.
- Ensure the pharmacy department is stocked, clean, neat, and orderly.
- Comply with all company policies and maintain respectful relationships with coworkers.
- Complete special assignments and other tasks as assigned.
- Earning and maintaining PTCB certification through the designated training program and/or state‑required certification/registration.
- Attend training and acquire continuing education credits; maintain knowledge and skill in healthcare and pharmacy.
- Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours.
- Six months of experience in a retail environment.
- Prior work experience with Walgreens.
- Strong math skills for accurately filling prescriptions.
- Good computer skills.
- Knowledge of store inventory control.
- PTCB certification.
