Overview
Our pharmacy technician positions have undergone an exciting transformation, moving from a transaction-based environment to a more patient‑centric one. As a Walgreens Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician Apprentice, you'll be front and center – interacting with our customers and developing strong patient relationships.

Responsibilities
- Assist the pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy under direct supervision and perform other Pharmacy Department duties in accordance with company policies.
- Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions. If PTCB certified, assist and coach other pharmacy technicians and cashiers in the operation of pharmacy systems and cash registers.
- Model and deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience.
Customer Experience
- Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services, resolving customer issues, and answering questions to ensure a positive customer experience.
- Model and share customer service best practices with all team members.
- Develop strong relationships with most valuable customers.
Operations
- Assist in the practice of pharmacy under supervision and comply with state, federal, and company policies.
- Utilize pharmacy systems to enter patient and drug information, fill prescriptions, verify medicines, and check for interactions.
- Report prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty promptly.
- Adhere to the Walgreens policy regarding Good Faith Dispensing during prescription dispensing activities.
- Handle cash register duties and manage sales accurately.
- Handle telephone calls that do not require pharmacist attention.
- Process manual claims for third‑party program prescription services efficiently.
- Assist in inventory management activities, including ordering and stocking.
- Assist pharmacist in administering clinical services such as collecting and labeling patient samples.
- Assist Pharmacy Manager and Staff Pharmacist in building and maintaining relationships with the local medical community.
- Assist with exterior and interior maintenance to keep the Pharmacy Department stocked, clean, neat, and orderly.
- Maintain respectful relationships with coworkers and comply with all company policies.
- Complete special assignments and other tasks as assigned.
Training & Personal Development
- Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated training program or state‑required certification/registration.
- Attend training requested by Manager and acquire continuing education credits to maintain knowledge and skill in healthcare and pharmacy.
Basic Qualifications
- Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
Preferred Qualifications
- Preferable six months of experience in a retail environment.
- Preferable prior work experience with Walgreens.
- Strong math skills for accurate prescription counting, measuring, and weighing.
- Good computer skills.
- Knowledge of store inventory control.
- PTCB certification.
