Job summary

Hy-Vee in Maplewood, MN is seeking a Part-Time, non-certified Pharmacy Technician to support pharmacists in prescription processing, insurance billing, and inventory while working toward national certification. You will gain hands-on experience in preparing prescriptions, labeling, and assisting with vaccines where allowed by law, with guidance from licensed pharmacists.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Working toward licensed technician certification through a certified national program required.
• Previous experience as a pharmacy clerk preferred.
• Vaccination certification required if administering vaccines, as required by law.

Responsibilities

• Provide prompt, friendly customer service by greeting customers and making interactions positive.
• Handle customer inquiries that do not require a pharmacist's expertise and judgment.
• Accept new written prescription orders and telephoned refill requests under supervision.
• Contact doctors' offices to take or request refill prescriptions as needed.
• Gather and maintain accurate patient information for prescriptions.
• Assist pharmacists in preparing prescription drug products for dispensing.
• Prepare and affix labels and prepare prescriptions to be mailed.
• Submit insurance claims and assist with third-party billing.
• File prescriptions after dispensing and report medication errors.
• Order, check in, and stock pharmacy supplies; log invoices.
• Perform cash transactions accurately.
• Administer vaccines as allowed by law, with required certification where applicable.
• Maintain pharmacy cleanliness and HIPAA confidentiality.
• Adhere to all pharmacy statutes and regulations.
• Work as a team with coworkers for customer satisfaction.
• Assist in other areas of the store as needed.
