Job summary

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, VA, is seeking a Full-time Inpatient Pharmacy Technician for night shifts (7p–7a) with a 7 days on/7 days off schedule. A $5,000 sign-on bonus is offered for qualified candidates.

Licensed Virginia Pharmacy Tech required; CPhT preferred. Experience in hospital pharmacy and Epic/Omnicell systems is advantageous. Competitive base pay and comprehensive benefits available.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Virginia Pharmacy Tech License required.
• CPhT license preferred.
• Previous pharmacy experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Dispenses and delivers medications under supervision of a licensed pharmacist or licensed independent practitioner.
• Fills and delivers medications under supervision.
• Ensures adequate supplies for continuous patient care.
• Triages questions outside scope of practice as needed.
• Uses pharmacy systems for processing patient information.
• Maintains quality assurance per department and legal requirements.
• Operates pharmacy equipment.
• Other duties may be assigned.

Responsibilities

• Pharmacy Technicians perform care delivery and dispensing under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist or licensed independent practitioner.
• Fills and delivers medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist/licensed independent practitioner
• Ensures adequate supplies are available for continuous patient care
• Triages and escalates any questions or issues outside the pharmacy technician's scope of practice as needed
• Uses appropriate systems for processing patient information
• Ensures quality assurance is maintained according to departmental and legal requirements
• Operates pharmacy equipment appropriately

A pharmacy technician license is required in the state of practice

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, and benefits. The base pay range for full-time employment is $23.50 - $36.36 hourly. Additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, on-call pay, overtime, shift premiums, extra-shift incentives, or bonus opportunities. Compensation within the range may vary based on qualifications, experience, location, market conditions, and business needs.
