Job summary

Yale NewHaven Health is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to support medication distribution, inventory management, and cross-functional pharmacy operations in a high reliability hospital setting. You will perform calculations, handle hazardous waste disposal per guidelines, and assist pharmacists while maintaining HIPAA and patient-centered care.

On-call shifts may be required; strong customer service and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• College degree is desirable.
• Completion of an academic or military hospital pharmacy technician training program preferred.
• 6 months pharmacy technician experience or healthcare experience required.
• Current registration/licensure or eligibility as a Pharmacy Technician in the state of employment; PTBC certification or equivalent within 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Medication distribution: accurately pick, prepare, package, label, and deliver medications to patient care units.
• Inventory management: maintain adequate inventory levels and rotate stock based on expiration and usage.
• Cross-functional proficiency: medication distribution, automation, purchasing, and aseptic compounding.
• Technical proficiency: operate and troubleshoot EMR, ADS, barcode labeling, and other systems.
• Communication: respond to nursing and provider inquiries while maintaining HIPAA compliance.
