Job summary

MaineHealth's Maine Medical Center is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to join our outpatient pharmacy call-center team. You'll perform core technician tasks, route patient inquiries, and support medication management in a fast-paced, patient-centered environment.

The role offers a hybrid work option after a six-month introductory period, with regular M-F hours and paid training. Certification support and career growth are available.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Experience: healthcare field preferred; 1 year for Technician Level II.
  • Licensure: Licensed Pharmacy Technician in Maine or eligible per Board requirements.
  • KSAs: strong interpersonal communication, detail orientation, and organizational skills.
  • Software: proficiency with Microsoft Office encouraged.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver exceptional patient care through a full suite of medication management services.
  • Collaborate with clinic teams to ensure coordinated care.
  • Educate patients about pharmacy services and promote specialty services.
  • Monitor medication adherence and handle insurance-related issues.
  • Maintain documentation and support process improvements.
  • Communicate effectively with care teams and fulfillment staff.
  • Contribute to new processes to improve patient care workflows.

Triage Technicians (Technician Level I and Level II depending on previous experience) at MaineHealth work within a call center performing core functions routing patients to the correct teams within the outpatient pharmacy.

Engage in continuous learning within the job role (patient workload for technicians of all levels split into teams that provide care for disease states ranging from cystic fibrosis, cardiology, oncology, transplant, virology- HIV, Hep B/C, rheumatology, dermatology, gastroenterology and to neurology).
Key Responsibilities:
  • -Patient Care:Deliver exceptional care by providing a full suite of custom medication management services. Engage with patients over the phone and virtually, to support their medication needs.
  • -Clinic Integration:Collaborate effectively with clinic teams, including doctors, nurses, and other staff, to ensure seamless integration and coordination of care.
  • - Education & Support:Educate patients about our pharmacy services and how they enhance their overall care. Encourage utilization of specialty pharmacy services.
  • - Medication Management:Monitor medication adherence, perform outbound therapy/medication adherence check-ups, and manage refill prescriptions. Address and resolve insurance-related issues, including prior authorizations and financial assistance.
  • - Administrative Duties:Maintain accurate documentation, manage data using database applications, and participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency.
  • - Communication:Provide timely and effective communication with the clinical care team members and fulfillment staff and handle inbound inquiries professionally.
  • - Process Development:Contribute to the development of new processes to improve patient care and operational workflows, under the oversight of the Workflow Committee
  • - Confidentiality:Ensure patient information is kept confidential and protected.
Qualifications:
  • - Education:High School Diploma or GED required.
  • - Experience: healthcare (1 year minimum for Technician Level II), communications or customer service background preferred
  • -Licensure/Certification: Currently eligible or licensed as a pharmacy technician in the State of Maine consistent with the current Board of Pharmacy requirements. Payment for licensing may be reimbursed by the department.
  • - Skills: Strong interpersonal communication, organizational skills, attention to detail. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) encouraged. Ability to quickly learn new software and extract relevant information.
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
  1. Education:High school diploma or equivalent required.
  2. License/Certifications:Current or eligible for applicable state(s) license as a Pharmacy Technician. Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) CPhT certification or National Healthcareer Association (NHA) ExCPT certification required.
  3. Experience:One year ofexperience as a licensed pharmacy technician.

The pay range for this position is $21.97to $29.28 per hour.

Compensation for part-time positions isdeterminedon a prorated basis consistent with the scheduled hours and applicable full-time equivalent (FTE).
