Job summary

Texas Health Denton is hiring a Pharmacy Technician II - PRN to join our hospital pharmacy team. You will perform advanced duties with greater independence, support nursing units, and ensure accurate medication preparation and delivery.

PRN status means as-needed shifts; must have a high school diploma, 6 months hospital experience, and RPhT license; IV certification preferred. Located in Denton, TX.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• 6 months' experience in a Texas Health hospital pharmacy required.
• RPhT – Registered Pharmacy Technician required upon hire.
• IV certification upon hire preferred.

Responsibilities

• Higher competency than Tech I; may require less supervision.
• Autonomous with record keeping or as a single point of contact outside the department.
• Advanced technology expertise and ownership.
• Delegated pharmacy leadership tasks (manager or lead technicians).
• Timely and accurate preparation, delivery to nursing units & storage of medications; use of technology where appropriate.
• Ensure accuracy of own work and maintenance of required competencies and documentation.
• Ongoing professional development and growth; leads by example and manages own time.
• Communicate effectively and model teamwork aligned with the Texas Health Promise Behaviors.
• Trains new employees on routine tasks under supervision.
• Manages own time and pursues cost-saving process improvements; validates competency completion for new staff.
• Other duties as assigned.

What You Will Do

Tasks specific to Tech II:

• Functionality requiring additional competency above Tech I, may require less supervision than a Tech I
• Autonomous responsibility either with record keeping or as a single point of contact outside the department
• Advanced technology expertise and ownership
• Delegated functions of pharmacy leadership (manager or lead technicians)
• Timely and accurate preparation, delivery to the nursing units/appropriate departments & storage of medications, including (when appropriate) the use of technology to do so, varies by location.
• Ensuring accuracy of one's own work as well as the maintenance of required competencies, and other documentation. Must reflect consistently departmental quality improvement and patient safety standards, programs and initiatives.
• Ongoing professional development and growth, leads by example, perpetuates accountability, manages own time.
• Communicate effectively, develop positive working relationships and role model teamwork that reflects the Texas Health Promise Behaviors. Trains new employees on routine tasks, under the direction of designated personnel.
• Manages own time and shares the responsibility for minimizing pharmaceutical costs (including wastage) and discovering new process efficiencies. Validates competency completion for new employees.
• Other duties as assigned
