Job summary

Sentara Health is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to perform clinical pharmacy care delivery under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist. The role requires advanced technical skills and independent work within assigned areas.

The position involves filling and delivering medications, ensuring adequate supplies, and participating in training and clinical initiatives to improve patient care. A Virginia Pharmacy Technician license and 2 years of experience are required.

Qualifications

• 2 years of experience (required).
• Pharmacy Technician license - valid in state(s) of practice.

Responsibilities

• Performs the technician responsibilities of clinical pharmacy care delivery under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist or licensed independent practitioner.
• Demonstrates advanced technical skills and ownership of the work area.
• Demonstrates the ability to work independently defined areas of pharmacy practice competently.
• Assumes local and/or system responsibility for assigned tasks related to advanced clinical job positions.
• Participates in the training of new employees.
• Fills and delivers medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist/licensed independent practitioner.
• Ensures adequate supplies are available for continuous patient care.
• Triages and escalates any questions or issues outside the pharmacy technician's scope of practice as needed.
• Uses appropriate systems for processing patient information.
• Ensures quality assurance is maintained according to departmental and legal requirements.
• Operates pharmacy equipment appropriately.
• Participates in clinical initiatives to continuously improve patient care.
• Training in an advanced Clinical Pharmacy Technician job function.
• In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
• A pharmacy technician license is required in the state of practice.

Compensation

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, and benefits. The base pay range for full-time employment is $23.50 - $36.36 hourly.

Additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call pay, overtime, shift premiums, extra-shift incentives, or bonus opportunities. Compensation within the range may vary based on qualifications, experience, location, market conditions, and business needs.
