Job summary

JobRx, Inc. is seeking a Pharmacy Technician II to assist in pharmaceutical preparation and distribution under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. The ideal candidate will have relevant experience and a certification.

This role requires attention to detail and will involve responsibilities such as non-sterile and sterile compounding, stocking automated dispensing cabinets, and delivering medications to patient areas. Qualifications

  • One year of Pharmacy Technician I experience or three years of relevant experience required.
  • Technician license/certification with the applicable state Board of Pharmacy.
  • Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT, ExCPT, or equivalent) required.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

Under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician II performs functions related to pharmaceutical preparation and distribution. These functions are assigned by pharmacists and pharmacy leaders based on the pharmacy workflow to support patient care needs. Responsibilities may include:

  • non‑sterile compounding
  • sterile compounding
  • hazardous compounding
  • stocking automated dispensing cabinets
  • unit dose drug preparation
  • delivering medications to patient care areas
  • checking medication storage areas for out‑dates
  • billing
  • other duties as assigned

The Pharmacy Technician II has a breadth of skills to allow rotation through four or more of these areas, as defined by facility needs:

  • Main Pharmacy, Pyxis, CII Safe, Sterile Compounding, Non Sterile compounding, Hazardous Compounding, and Controlled Substance Tech duties.
Qualifications
  • One year of Pharmacy Technician I (or 3 years of previous relevant experience) is required; inpatient experience strongly preferred
  • Technician license/certification with the applicable state Board of Pharmacy
  • Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT, ExCPT, or national equivalent accredited by NCCA) is required. ASHP certificates are preferred
  • Highschool diploma or equivalent
  • As defined in competencies; ability to work accurately with attention to detail. Possesses communication, teamwork, customer service, computer skills, problem solving and organizational skills.
  • Pharmacy Technicians work under the direct supervision of pharmacists and pharmacy leadership, incompliance with applicable policies, law, regulations, practices and procedures prescribed by his/her immediate supervisor
  • Orientation period: four to six weeks
