Job summary

The Pharmacy Technician II position supports the medication use process, assists pharmacists in preparation, and helps manage inventory and insurance claims across the Baptist Medical Center East location.

Qualified candidates will have a High School diploma, at least 1 year of pharmacy tech experience, and active ALBOP certification with CPhT credential.

Responsibilities

• Perform technical functions in the medication use process.
• Assist Pharmacist with preparation and compounding of pharmaceutical products.
• Assess inventory of pharmacy products and manage stock levels.
• Resolve insurance claims during dispensing as applicable.
• Cross training in a key functional area as outlined in Technician Career Ladder.

Highlights: Summary: The Pharmacy Technician shall be responsible to perform most of the technical functions involved in the medication use process. This individual shall assist the Pharmacist in the preparation and compounding of pharmaceutical products, assessing inventory of pharmacy products, and resolving problems with insurance claims as they arise during the dispensing function, as applicable to location. Cross training in one key functional area [examples provided in Technician Career Ladder]. This position may have additional duties assigned that are within scope of the role.

Education / Experience:

High school graduate or equivalent required. Minimum 1 year of Pharmacy Technician experience required.

License / Certification:

Active ALBOP Pharmacy Tech certification required, CPhT certification required

Work Conditions/Physical Requirements:

Position requires sitting for 20% of the workday and mobility 80% of the workday. There is occasional stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching. There is frequent reaching, use of hands and repetitive action. Requires occasional lifting or carrying up to 25 pounds, pushing/pulling up to 150 pounds. There is a continuous need for speaking with clear diction and hearing sensitivity in conversation either by phone or in person. Continuous visual acuity at close and distant range. Inside protected from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. Minimal noise levels. Much exposure to computer work. Occasional exposure to risk of electrical shock. Some exposure to infectious disease while performing job-related tasks. Some exposure to hazardous chemicals. Occasional exposure to radiation.
