Job summary

Aurora West Allis Medical Center is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to join our pharmacy team for the 2nd shift. The role includes assisting pharmacists, preparing and labeling medications, handling hazardous drugs and controlled substances, and supporting medication distribution with a rotating weekend/holiday schedule.

The position requires high school diploma or GED and pharmacy technician certification within 18 months. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required.
State licensure/certification (CPhT or ExCPT) within 18 months.
No prior work experience required.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

Assists licensed pharmacist in technical duties related to preparation and distribution of medications.
Accurately selects, prepares, and labels medications for patients including hazardous drugs and controlled substances.
Assists with medication distribution tasks and screens phone calls for routing.
Performs daily pharmacy procurement, inventory control, and outdate checking.
Completes documentation for controlled substances and maintains proper storage policies.
Performs nonsterile compounding and sterile IV admixture when required.
