Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Current Pharmacy Technician Certification preferred unless required by the State.

Responsibilities

• Handle daily pharmacy operations within policy and guidelines.
• Work under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist and operate independently; no direct patient care.
• Pickup drug orders at nursing stations and prepare medications under pharmacist supervision.
• Deliver correct medication quantities to the appropriate patient areas.
• Assist with accurate billing and crediting of patient medications.
• Maintain drugs per formulary, including ordering, receiving, storing, and paperwork.
• Monitor doses per Medication Administration Record and narcotics sign-out.
• Maintain forms and reports for controlled substances.
