Job summary

UnitedHealth Group's Optum pharmacy team in Pine Brook, NJ is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to assist with dispensing under supervision, handle prescriptions, and support inventory and patient communications. This full-time role requires accuracy, HIPAA compliance, and teamwork in a fast-paced healthcare setting.

The position offers competitive hourly pay, benefits, and opportunities for career growth. Flexibility for 6am–2:30pm shifts and occasional overtime may be required.

Qualifications

• Active and unrestricted New Jersey NHA PhT license.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
• Ability to stand for up to 8 hours with intermittent breaks.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Experience navigating Microsoft Office Suite (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Preparing and dispensing prescription medications under the supervision of a pharmacist
• Receiving and processing prescription orders from patients, physicians, and healthcare providers
• Entering prescription information into pharmacy systems and maintaining accurate patient records
• Verifying insurance coverage, processing claims, and resolving billing issues
• Managing inventory, ordering medications, and monitoring stock levels
• Restocking medications and supplies while ensuring proper storage and handling
• Assisting with medication packaging, labeling, and shipment preparation
• Maintaining compliance with pharmacy laws, regulations, and company policies
• Performing quality assurance checks to ensure prescription accuracy
• Answering patient and provider inquiries and directing clinical questions to the pharmacist
• Supporting workflow management to meet productivity and service-level expectations
• Maintaining patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance
• Collaborating with pharmacists, technicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure timely medication delivery
