This position offers a pay range of $13.00/hr - $18.50/hr, based on skills and experience. It is a PRN (as needed) role with potential for more hours in the future.

Job Description

The Pharmacy Technician oversees various aspects of the retail pharmacy, focusing on prescription processing and patient communication. Responsibilities include preparing the pharmacy for business, monitoring inventory, record-keeping, and providing excellent customer service. Must work well in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist pharmacists in medication distribution and pharmaceutical care.
• Prepare the pharmacy for opening by sterilizing surfaces and equipment.
• Greet customers and answer inquiries.
• Receive and validate prescriptions.
• Enter and process prescriptions in the pharmacy system, under pharmacist supervision and in accordance with regulations.
• Ensure accuracy of patient and prescription information.
• Resolve issues such as rejected insurance claims.
• Fill prescriptions with appropriate medication and dosages.
• Manage inventory through sorting, stocking, and labeling medications.
• Perform administrative tasks like recordkeeping.
• Follow security measures and quality standards.
• Other tasks as assigned by management.

Note: Pharmacy Technicians are not permitted to perform final prescription checks or patient counseling.

Requirements

• High School diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Registered with State Board of Pharmacy.
• Focus on patient care, communication, and customer service skills.
• Strong math and organizational skills.
• Reliable with attention to detail.
• Retail pharmacy experience preferred.
• Knowledge of medication, dosage, pharmacy law, and medical terminology preferred.
• Experience with prescription management systems like Pioneer is a plus.
• National Certification is an asset and may increase PTO and pay.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, sit, reach, climb, crawl, squat, kneel, and bend regularly.
• Push/pull up to 50 pounds.
• Lift/carry up to 15 pounds frequently and 35 pounds occasionally.
• Visual capabilities include close reading, distant recognition, peripheral vision, and rapid focus adjustment.
