The pharmacy department at Dearborn is responsible for providing medication reliably and safely for our patients. We serve as a resource for medication information for providers, staff, and patients. Pharmacy services span across the continuum of care, from outpatient to inpatient, ambulatory, and specialty to critical care.

About Corewell Health Dearborn Hospital

Corewell Health Dearborn Hospital has proudly served residents across Southeast Michigan since 1953. With 632 beds, it is a major teaching and research hospital, home to five residency programs and a cardiology fellowship in partnership with Wayne State University School of Medicine. The hospital is verified as a Level II trauma center and accredited by the Joint Commission as a primary stroke center. It is known for excellence and innovation in orthopedics, neurosciences, women’s health, heart and vascular, and cancer care.

Scope of Work

• Fills medication orders including oral, injectable, topical medications, and intravenous admixtures.
• Assists in the bulk manufacturing of pharmaceutical products.
• Prepares and distributes floor stock items in response to requisitions.
• Inventories and restocks shelves, checks for outdated drugs.
• Enters charges and credits into the computer for medications and IV admixtures dispensed.
• Documents all medications and IV solutions returned to the Pharmacy.
• Distributes medications to patient care areas and other departments.
• Performs record keeping functions.
• Answers phone calls and assists at the Pharmacy window.
• May rotate within hospital and outpatient pharmacy areas.
• Maintains a safe, orderly work area.
• Follows clean room guidelines for IV admixtures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Experience with sterile compounding and/or 6 months technician experience and/or graduate of an ASHP-accredited technician program (preferred).
• Michigan Pharmacy Technician license upon hire or Michigan Pharmacist Intern license upon hire.
