Job summary

The Valley Health System in Las Vegas, NV is seeking Pharmacy Technicians to work under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, assisting in medication preparation, distribution, inventory control and record keeping in strict compliance with procedures and regulations.

Qualifications include a Nevada Pharmacy Technician license and board certification (PTCB or NHA), a high school diploma or equivalent, and about one year of experience preferred; automation experience and reporting knowledge

Job Description

Pharmacy Technicians, under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, assist in the various activities of the pharmacy department. They prepare and distribute medications, maintain the drug inventory, keep accurate records, and follow standard written procedures, guidelines, and state and federal regulations. They do not perform duties that can legally be performed only by a registered pharmacist.

Responsibilities

Assist pharmacists in medication preparation and distribution; maintain drug inventory; maintain accurate records; follow procedures and regulations; perform tasks as directed by the supervising pharmacist.

Education

High School diploma or equivalent preferred.

Experience

One (1) year of experience preferred.

Technical Skills

Automation experience with knowledge of reporting features (e.g., optimization, load/unload, nursing narcotic access, etc.).

License/Certification

Must hold a current license as a Pharmacy Technician in the State of Nevada and be certified by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board or the National Healthcareer Association.

Other

Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide appropriate care/service for the patients served on the assigned unit/department.
