Job summary

The Pharmacy Technician at Trinity Health Pharmacy Solutions – Grand Rapids will primarily support a centralized prior authorization clinic in West Michigan, MI. The technician may also support other ambulatory pharmacy clinics as needed.

Under the direction of a Registered Pharmacist, this role assists in preparing medications, maintaining inventories and patient records, and delivering courteous service to patients and staff. Working hours are day shift with no weekends or holidays.

Qualifications

• Minimum high school education or equivalent.
• Preferred completion of formal pharmacy technician training program.
• Licensed as a Pharmacy Technician in Michigan (LPhT) AND nationally certified as a Pharmacy Technician (CPhT).
• Minimum One year of pharmacy work experience. Prefer experience in multiple healthcare settings.
• Prefer previous experience working within multi-disciplinary teams

Responsibilities

• Prepares, packages, and distributes medication orders per physician/pharmacist request, or prearranged work assignment in accordance with state and federal rules and regulations and established policies, procedures.
• Contributes to effective and quality operation of the department.
• Maintains logs, records, and other required documentation, files documentation.
• Completes third party adjudication for prescription claims.
• Utilizes computerized prescription dispensing system to complete the following aspect of filling patient prescriptions: Create patient profiles, Prescription data input, Third party/insurance processing, Prescription refilling.
• Incoming and outbound calls with patients, provider teams and third parties.
• Insurance prior authorizations; collects necessary information for submission.
• Order packaging and scheduling deliveries.
• Works Epic Multi-Step Order Transmittal work queue.
• Perform simple pharmaceutical calculations including, but not limited to, days’ supply and weight-based dosing calculations.
• Collect payments using point-of-sale system.
• Participate in the training, education, precepting, and evaluation of pharmacy students and/or residents as assigned.
• Excellent customer service skills.
