Job summary

Resolute Baptist Hospital in Texas is seeking a Pharmacy Technician II to assist in preparing, packaging, delivering and charging medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.

The role involves checking with a pharmacist before dispensing, stocking ADCs, preparing IV admixtures, and supporting outpatient prescriptions. A Texas license and pharmacy certification are required, with a potential sign-on bonus offered.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate or equivalent
• Pharmacy experience in a hospital setting preferred
• Two years hospital experience preferred
• Current Texas State Board of Pharmacy Technician license required; pharmacy technician certification as applicable

Responsibilities

• Accurately fills medication orders with correct strength, dosage form, and quantity in a timely manner.
• Assures all medications are checked by a pharmacist prior to dispensing.
• Responds to STAT and routine orders and stock bulletins; restocks ADCs promptly.
• Prepackages and labels oral medications and extemporaneous preparations.
• Prepares IV sterile admixture solutions and IV products following IV policies and procedures.
• Interprets medication labels and maintains transaction records.
• Prepares outpatient prescriptions for pharmacist review.
• Prepares unit dose tablets, capsules, liquids, and other drug trays.
• Assists pharmacist with dispensing controlled substances and maintaining records.
• Maintain adequate medication stock levels and proper storage of medications

The Pharmacy Tech II assists in preparing, packaging, delivering and charging of medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. Completes established competencies for the position within designated introductory period. Other related duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

General Functions:

• Accurately fills medication orders with correct strength, dosage form, and quantity in a timely manner.
• Assures all medications are checked by a pharmacist prior to dispensing.
• Responds appropriately to requests for STAT orders, routine orders, department requests and ADC stock out bulletins. Accurately stock ADCs in a timely manner.
• Prepackages and labels oral medications and extemporaneous preparations.
• Prepares IV sterile admixture solutions and IV products accurately consistent with IV policies and procedures. Restocks medications in IV room and conforms to IV cleaning schedule
• Interprets medication labels to compounds, prepares and maintains records of transactions.
• Prepares outpatient prescriptions for review by pharmacist
• Prepares unit dose tablets capsules and liquids, and surgical drugs and other specialty drug trays
• Assists the pharmacist with the dispensing of controlled substances to patient care areas and maintains records
• Maintain adequate medication stock levels and proper storage of medications

Qualifications

MINIMUM EDUCATION: High School Graduate or equivalent; accredited training in sterile products preparation.

PREFERRED EDUCATION: NA

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: Pharmacy experience

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Two years hospital experience

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: Possession of current Texas State Board of Pharmacy Technician License ; Pharmacy Technician Certification (depending on state regulations) required.
